About

What Is Body Stress Release?

Firstly, what is stress? The dictionary defines stress as:

def. a specific response by the body to a stimulus, as fear or pain, that disturbs or interferes with the normal physiological equilibrium of an organism; physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension

Body Stress Release, or BSR, is a non-therapeutic, complementary health technique which enables the body to release locked in tension, thereby restoring the body’s inbuilt ability to heal itself. The practitioner is able to use the body as a biofeedback mechanism to determine the exact sites of locked-in stress.

How it works

To release the stress, the practitioner applies light but accurate pressure/stimulus along the lines of tension. This enables the body to release the stored stress, thereby restoring nerve communication, which in turn restores self-healing.

As the releases are gentle, many clients are amazed at the effectiveness of the technique.

About Michael Martin's Body Stress Release

My story goes back to 1982 when I first encountered Body Stress Release. After varnishing my living room floor, I felt great discomfort. From a mixture of bending awkwardly and inhaling chemical fumes, sleeping became a real issue. After experiencing spasms across my chest, I imagined I’d had a heart attack. The hospital doctors investigated, as did a physician. Over weeks of fruitless tests and scans, I was finally referred to a BSR practitioner. Three visits later, I was back to my old self. They were able to identify the problem: a twisted rib cage. From that moment on, I was intrigued.

Having studied the practice in South Africa and gaining a certificate from the Body Stress Release Association, I have now been practicing BSR for the past 4 years. I have enjoyed bringing others similar relief and peace of mind as I experienced all those years ago.
